Application for Share Definition:

When a person wishes to purchase shares of a new company, he sends in a formal letter of application stating the number of shares he requires, and enclosing the sum of money payable on application. The form of application is usually published with the prospectus. The company will then proceed to allot the shares, though not necessarily the number of shares applied for.
