Capital Loss Definition:

Loss suffered by the business on the sale of a fixed asset is known as capital loss. For example, machinery having book value of $5,000 is sold for $4,500, the difference of $500 is capital loss. Or the loss incurred on raising the capital for a company (by issuing shares at a discount) is known as capital loss.
