Complex Capital Structure Definition:

Using different type of securities rather than relying on only one class of common stock. For example using class A and class B of both common and preferred stock as well as using callable bonds and non-callable bonds.

Also a company's capital structure is considered complex if it includes securities that could have a dilutive effect on earnings per common share.
